Sometimes we’re asked why we’re not completely vegan—and this little pot of loveliness is a perfect example of why. Based on the world’s first known ointment, it’s a rich blend of emollient butters, enzymic fresh lemon and, crucially, beeswax, which helps these nourishing ingredients come together and work their magic.

A small dab of Lemony Flutter will brighten cuticles and nails, soften hard skin and and give all those dry bits the sorting out they need.

It was originally created for Lush Co-Founder Liz Bennett (née Weir), who had very high standards – so you know it does the job. Fellow Co-Founder and Product Inventor Helen Ambrosen explains, “Liz was always very particular about her hands and her nails so this product was made for her. It’s great on the hands or toes – and helps prevent cracks in the skin.”

Protective beeswax forms a comforting barrier that locks in moisture, while shea, cocoa and mango butters soften dry skin and help reduce water loss. Avocado oil, rich in nutrients and antioxidants, keeps hardworking hands feeling supple and resilient.

Meanwhile, fresh organic lemon extract and Sicilian lemon oil help condition stubborn dry areas around the nails. The result is a deeply conditioning treatment that leaves cuticles tidy, skin smooth and hands looking beautifully maintained.

How to use

Use every day – or twice a day! Dip in to this little tub whenever your nails are in need of some nourishment or you’re tempted to pick those little flakey bits. A little goes a long way, which is just as well, because it’s rather lovely on your elbows, knees and toes too.

Made with coconut oil sourced from Nias, Indonesia, where our supplier gives 10% of their profits to the Ono Niha Foundation, supporting children with physical disabilities on the island with numeracy and literacy classes that would otherwise be non-accessible.

Our caring cupuaçu butter comes from the Amazon and is grown in a regenerative agroforestry system.
