From one icon to another, Lush Co-Founder and Product Inventor Helen Ambrosen tells us how she worked her magic to make Snow Fairy palm free this year. "At Lush we have certain challenges that we have always wanted to overcome and this year Snow Fairy in her lovely shower gel guise is helping us do that. One aim has been to create liquid shower gels and shampoos using surfactants that are palm free. Our shampoo bars are not palm based and we are very proud of that. As our shower gels are our main product that uses palm-based materials, we felt this would be the best place to start. There are very few non-palm-based shampoo bases that we can work with so we worked out a way of using the same surfactant as in the shampoo bars but in liquid form.”

Lusher than we found it

Persian lime essential oil is extracted from peel and produced for Lush in Mexico. The cold pressed oil is obtained by passing the fruit through machinery which ruptures the oil ceIIs either by puncturing or rasping.

This self-preserving product is formulated to stay fresh and effective without added synthetic preservatives.
